Switched from a monthly budget to a cash envelope system last month
I gave myself $400 in cash for groceries and eating out, and it forced me to really see where the money was going. I spent $50 less than usual because I was way more careful with the physical cash. Has anyone else tried this method and found it helped them cut back on a specific category?

That physical limit is the key. With a card, you can always spend a little more. The envelope is empty, you're done. Makes you plan meals around what's left at the end of the week.

Saw a thing online about how using cash makes your brain feel the loss more than swiping a card. Totally tracks with your grocery savings.

Nah, I dunno. Swiping a card still hurts when you check your bank account later. That digital number going down feels plenty real to me.
