My credit card app showed me my grocery spending by category and I nearly fell over
I finally checked the breakdown in my banking app yesterday and saw I dropped $87 on snacks alone last month (mostly single-serving bags of chips). Did anyone else not realize how much those impulse buys at the checkout add up? I'm cutting back and already seeing a difference this week.

Took a closer look at my own bank statements after reading this and realized my real problem wasn't snacks at all. @oscar_ellis has a point about not sweating the small stuff, but I found I was spending $40 a month on a gym membership I never used and another $25 on a streaming service I forgot I had. Cancelled both of those yesterday and the savings already beat anything I could cut from chip runs.

$87 on snacks is NOTHING to be worried about, that's entertainment money basically. Those checkout impulse buys probably kept you from stopping somewhere else for a treat, which would have cost more. People get way too worked up over small amounts when the real money bleed is stuff like subscriptions and eating out.
