My car's alternator quit in a Walmart parking lot two months ago

I called a mobile mechanic who charged $220 for the part and labor, which was way less than a tow and shop visit. Anyone know a good way to keep an emergency fund for car stuff without it feeling like wasted money?

So you saved a ton with that mobile mechanic, but what happens if it's something bigger next time? Like if your transmission goes out on a road trip, that $220 fix turns into thousands real quick. How do you even start saving for a nightmare scenario without it just sitting there, tempting you to spend it on something else?

@kelly_nelson95 I just stash a fixed amount each paycheck and pretend it doesn't exist. Automate it.
