My 12 year old fridge died on a Tuesday and I fixed it for $47 instead of buying new

Nice! My old washer started leaking last year and I found a YouTube video for the exact model. The part was like $30 and it took me an hour to swap out the pump. Felt like a total win not dealing with delivery and setup of a new one.

Read an article saying we throw out a lot of appliances with simple, cheap fixes. It argued that planned obsolescence wins when we don't even look for the repair manual. Makes you value that hour with a screwdriver a bit more.

Love seeing people fix stuff instead of tossing it. Just a heads up though, that washer pump fix probably took you more than an hour if it was your first time, no shame in that. The real win is learning how it works so you can do it faster next time. Makes you wonder what else we could fix if we just looked it up.
