I thought the 'cash envelope' thing was just for people who can't use a card.
My wife and I tried it for groceries last month, putting $400 cash in an envelope. We spent $367, which is $100 less than our usual card bill. Seeing the actual money leave made us skip a lot of impulse buys at the store. Has anyone else had a win with a method they thought was silly at first?

Yeah, seeing the actual money leave makes a huge difference. I tried the same thing with my takeout budget and it was shocking how much less I spent.

Interesting! I actually had the opposite happen. I tried cash for my fun money and ended up with more loose change for random vending machine trips. For me, putting a hard limit on my card in the app works way better, it just locks me out when I hit it.
