I dropped $280 on a chest freezer for my garage and it paid for itself in about 5 months
I was throwing out so much stuff it was embarrassing. Half a loaf of bread going moldy, chicken I bought on sale and never cooked in time, bags of frozen veggies getting freezer burn in the little side-by-side. Back in March I finally just bought a basic 7 cubic foot chest freezer for $280 at a scratch and dent place off the highway. I started buying meat in bulk when it hit the clearance sticker, portioning it out in zip bags, and actually dating everything with a sharpie. My grocery bill went from around $620 a month down to $480, and that is with prices going up. The freezer paid for itself by August. The one catch is you really do need a list taped to the lid or you forget what is buried at the bottom, I learned that the hard way when I found a roast from April. Anyone else run a second freezer and have a system that keeps you from losing track of stuff?
