Found a $1.25 discount bin at the Grocery Outlet on 5th that most people walk right past
I stopped by the Grocery Outlet on 5th Street on Tuesday just to grab milk and ended up spending 25 minutes digging through the clearance cart near the back wall by the dairy coolers. The stuff on top is junk, but if you pull out the bottom layer of boxes you find things like a 2 lb bag of almonds for $3 and cans of coconut milk for 75 cents that still have 8 months left on the date. I asked the stock guy named Marcus about it and he said they load that cart every morning around 8 and the good stuff is usually gone by lunch. My grocery bill for the week dropped from $110 to $62 just by checking that cart first before I shop the rest of the store. The trick is to look at the unit price on the shelf tag, not the sticker on the box, because sometimes the clearance item is actually worse per ounce. I also started keeping a list on my phone of what I actually use so I don't buy weird stuff just because it's cheap. Has anyone else found a hidden spot like this at their local store, and did it actually save you money over time?
