Appreciation post: That self checkout hack at the grocery store in Tampa saved me 40 bucks this month

I noticed the bagged salad packs were ringing up wrong at the self checkout in Publix last week, so I started double checking every barcode and caught three mispriced items that added up to a nice discount - has anyone else found random tech glitches working in their favor like that?

The Publix on Dale Mabry had the same issue with their organic spring mix last month. I started weighing the produce bags on the scale before scanning and realized the avocados weren't registering the correct weight half the time. Now I watch the screen like a hawk and hit skip bagging on anything that looks off. Have you checked if the salads have a different PLU code that might fix the ringing up part?

Respectfully disagree with @rileynelson about messing with the skip bagging feature though, since I tried that once and it flagged me for a random audit that took forever. My experience has been that double checking prices at the register is fine, but deliberately tricking the machine can backfire if they review the footage later. Just watching the screen more closely like you mentioned has worked okay for me without pushing it too far.
