Am I the only one who didn't know you can just ask your bank to drop the monthly fee?
I checked my statement last Tuesday and saw I had paid $12 a month for almost 4 years on an account that was supposed to be free. Took one phone call and 10 minutes to get it switched, but now I'm wondering what else I've been paying for that I could just ask about.
Googled my own bank's hidden fees after reading this and found out I've been paying $8 a month for "account maintenance" on a checking account I opened in college. Called them up and the guy acted like he was doing me a huge favor by removing a charge that should not have been there in the first place. Guess I'll be spending my weekend calling every company I've ever given my card info to.
