Lost $80 on a 'budget' hostel booking site last month

Booked through a site that looked like a deal but it was actually a reseller, and when I showed up the hostel had no record of my reservation. Anyone else get burned by those third party booking sites that pretend to be the real deal?

I've actually saved a good chunk of change using those reseller sites like BookingBuddy or something similar lol. The trick is to call the hostel directly right after you book to make sure they got it.

Same. I booked through one of those sites once and got a killer rate. Called the hostel and they were like "uh we got no record of you" so good call on checking.

Huh, I'll be honest I always thought those reseller sites were a total scam. But robinp72 and lunakim have me rethinking that. Might have to try it myself and just double check with the hostel.
