I finally ditched my camera for a sketchbook while traveling

The savings are obvious, but the way it makes you truly observe and remember each moment is priceless...

Last autumn in Paris, I sketched the same street corner every morning for a week. Noticing how the light changed on the buildings taught me more about the place than any photo album could. You start to remember the smell of bread from the bakery, the pattern of the cobblestones, things a camera simply filters out. That deliberate pace turns travel into a deeper, more personal archive.

Sketching in Montmartre gave me that same focus.

Can't a photo album be just as personal?
