Holding out for off-season travel turned my expensive plan into a budget win
I pushed my Greece trip to October to avoid summer prices. Yeah, some beaches were cooler, but my wallet thanked me with cheaper stays and empty sights. Who else times their vacations to dodge peak season?

The Uffizi Gallery all to yourself is wild.

Oh, totally agree with going off-season. I mean, I booked a week in Portugal last March before the summer crowds showed up, and it was such a better deal. Flights and hotels were way cheaper, and I could actually enjoy the sights without fighting through people. Even the restaurants felt more relaxed, like you could take your time. Yeah, it was a bit breezy sometimes, but just bringing a light jacket made it fine, and the savings were so worth it.

Your note about cheaper stays and empty sights is spot on. A good friend of mine tried a similar trick with a trip to Italy last year. He went in early November, well after the summer crowds had gone home. A few tourist spots had shorter hours, but he had the Uffizi Gallery practically to himself. He saved so much on airfare and a cozy apartment rental. The cooler weather just meant packing a sweater, and he loved the calm vibe everywhere. It really showed him the value of skipping the busy times.
