Heard a guy at a hostel say he spent $12 a day in Vietnam and it blew my mind
I always thought you needed at least $50 a day minimum to travel anywhere decent, but this random guy from Sweden was living on street pho and bus rides. He said he just avoided all the tourist spots and ate where locals ate, and suddenly my whole budget plan felt way off. What's the cheapest country you've ever traveled to and how much did you actually spend per day?

Dig into that $12 a day figure for me - what was your biggest unexpected cost down there? Like, did you get hit with any surprise fees for national park entries or bus breakdowns where you had to fork out for a private ride? I'm always curious where the "hidden" expenses pop up in those super cheap destinations, because on paper it looks easy but reality usually has other plans.

Damn, $12 is wild but it's more about what you skip than where you go. Cheapest I've hit was Bolivia, spent about $10 a day and never felt like I was missing anything, just skipped the gringo bars and cooked sometimes.
