Finally got a free night in Lisbon using credit card points
Three months ago, I opened a travel rewards card with a sign-up bonus. I hit the spending goal by using it for groceries and gas. Last week, I booked a hotel in Lisbon for a night this fall, and the points covered the whole $180 cost. It felt like a real win for a trip I was already planning. Has anyone else had luck with a specific card for European travel?

Oh nice, my buddy did something similar. He used his card points to get a flight to Dublin last year. He put all his regular bills on the card for a few months to get the bonus. Said it felt like getting a free ticket just for spending money he already had to spend. What hotel did you pick in Lisbon?

Yeah, that "free ticket" feeling is great... until you get hit with the foreign transaction fees on those regular bills if your card isn't set up for it.
