Changed my mind about hostels after a stay in Porto

Always thought hostels were just for partying until I stayed at the Yes! hostel in Porto Portugal last month and the staff organized a free walking tour and a group dinner for 7 euros. Have you ever had a hostel experience that surprised you in a good way?

Wait, are you saying one decent experience is enough to make you a full on hostel convert now? Don't get me wrong, I've had some solid hostel stays but I've also had some pretty rough ones too. Feels like you got lucky with a good one.

Ngl I saw this article a while back about how hostels with organized group stuff like dinners or walking tours always get way better reviews lol. It makes sense though, like that social setup is probably the difference between meeting people and hiding in your bunk.

Honestly that sounds like a solid experience. Tbh I had the same thing happen in Barcelona where a hostel organized a family style paella dinner and it totally changed how I saw hostels. Sometimes you just get lucky with the right place that has good people and good activities.
