TIL that old guy at the hardware store was right about WD-40 not being a lubricant
I was at a True Value in Cleveland fixing a squeaky gate and a retired machinist told me WD-40 is really a water displacer, not something you should rely on for long-term lubrication. Has anyone else had someone school them on a common household product they thought they knew?

Wait, seriously? I always thought it was a straight-up lubricant too, I've been spraying it on everything for years. Guess I've been doing it wrong this whole time.
