That barista at the coffee shop near my work changed my whole view on tipping

I was at Brewed Awakening on 3rd Street last Tuesday and the barista told me she only makes $9 an hour before tips, and I realized my generation is not the one being lazy here. How are people in their 20s supposed to get ahead when wages haven't budged in like 15 years?

Tipping just fills the gap employers won't cover anymore.

Honestly @karen_perry38 this actually changed my mind a little. I used to think tipping was just a nice bonus for good service, but when you put it that way it really does feel like we're just covering what companies should be paying. It's like the system got shifted onto customers instead of fixing the wages.
