Rant: my 2016 smart TV lost Netflix support and the "buy a new one" crowd is proving Gen X right
Two weeks ago my 2016 Samsung TV just dropped the Netflix app and the support chat rep shrugged and said the hardware was too old for updates. The stupid part is the screen looks great, so I hooked up a $25 Roku stick from Best Buy and it works fine, which got me thinking about how we went from fixing stuff to tossing it every 4 years. Is this a Boomer greed problem, a Millennial convenience problem, or did Gen Z just grow up thinking a 6 year old TV is ancient?
