My sister told me I was stirring risotto wrong for 20 years

I always used fast circles but she showed me slow figure eights and now my rice actually gets creamy without burning, have any of you gotten cooking tips from coworkers or family that completely changed your recipe?

Ugh god. Spent years doing aggressive fast circles. Pancakes fell apart. Rice burned. Then my friend laughed at me for hacking at an avocado with a knife. She just... cuts it in half? Around the pit? Who knew. The real kicker was learning to let pancakes sit until bubbles form. Not just flipping them every 10 seconds.

Jumped in right away to say yes, absolutely. My sister watched me trying to flip a pancake by tossing it in the air and told me to just slide a spatula under it and flip it instead. Changed my breakfast game completely. Made me wonder what other dumb tricks I have been stubborn about for years.
