My grandma's 1987 cordless drill outlasted my modern one at a garage cleanup
Last Saturday I was helping my dad clear out his garage in Akron and we found his old Black+Decker cordless drill from 1987. I laughed and said it was junk, but the battery somehow still held a charge after we let it sit for 20 minutes. My 3 year old Ryobi died halfway through driving 40 screws into a shelving unit. I ended up using the relic for the rest of the day and it never slowed down. It got me thinking about how we blame older generations for cheap stuff now, but maybe we're the ones who accepted disposable tools. Has anyone else had an old hand-me-down tool that just won't quit while their new gear fails?

Were you using the Ryobi all afternoon before it died, or did it just give up early like mine usually do? I always wonder if these things are designed to fail right after the warranty ends.
