My dad told me to just 'hustle harder' when I was working 60 hour weeks

Back in 2018 I was doing 60 hour weeks delivering packages and still barely making rent. My dad, who is a boomer and retired from a factory with a pension, kept telling me to just hustle harder and stop being lazy. Well I hustled so hard I ended up in the ER with a hernia from lifting too many heavy boxes alone. Took me 8 weeks to recover and lost $3,200 in missed shifts. He never brings up the hustle thing anymore but I still wonder how many of us got hurt following that bad advice. Has anyone else gotten wrecked by older relatives pushing that grind mentality?

My buddy Tom had something similar happen. His uncle kept telling him to just push through and work harder when he was doing 12 hour shifts at a warehouse. Ended up with a torn rotator cuff from lifting furniture by himself and was out of work for 3 months. The uncle still talks about the good old days when everyone worked themselves to the bone. Tom still gets mad when he sees that word hustle in job postings.
