Last week my Gen Z coworker said cursive is a 'useless skill' and I nearly lost it

I was sitting in the break room at my office in Cincinnati when my 22 year old coworker said learning cursive in school was a waste of time. I told her I write my grocery lists and notes in cursive every day and she looked at me like I had three heads. Then she said her whole generation just types everything and never learned to sign their name properly. I had to walk away because I was about to go on a 20 minute rant about how millennials ruined handwriting and Gen Z just finished it off. So which generation actually killed cursive and should I just accept that it's gone for good?

Man that's rough, I feel your pain. Gen Z definitely finished off cursive but millennials started the decline when we stopped practicing in middle school. It's a bummer but seems like we're the last ones who can actually read it.

Oh man, you're totally right! It's like once we stopped being FORCED to practice it in school, cursive just quietly disappeared. I notice it everywhere now too, like I had to sign for a package the other day and the delivery guy just stared at my signature because he couldn't make sense of it. And then there's my grandma's old recipe cards, they're ALL in cursive and I bet most people under 25 couldn't read them if their life depended on it. It's weird how something so basic just slowly fades away.
