Hot take: the records at the used shop in Nashville were all from one generation

I stopped by a store off Broadway last weekend and every single bin was filled with 80s hair metal and classic rock. Not a single Kendrick or Taylor Swift pressing in sight. Are we really saying Gen Z and Millennials don't own physical music anymore, or do we just not dump our records when we move?

Oh man, I feel this so hard @laura189. I'm in the exact same boat with my crate of punk records that I've dragged through three apartments now.

Is it just that more people my age are hanging onto their records until they finally settle down somewhere? I'm 32 and I've moved four times in the last decade, every time I pack up my crate of vinyl it feels like a hassle but I can't bring myself to sell them. Meanwhile my dad's generation had that whole "sell your collection when you need rent money" thing going on, or they just passed everything down. I think there's a weird middle ground where people in their 20s and 30s are still accumulating but haven't hit that purge point yet. Plus the used shops probably get first dibs when someone passes away, and that's gonna skew older for a while.
