Had to decide between fixing my old dryer or buying a new one last month

I live in a older apartment in Columbus and my dryer started making this grinding noise that just got worse every cycle. Landlord said I could either fix it myself or they would replace it with whatever they found on Facebook Marketplace. I figured 150 bucks for a repair kit was cheaper than dealing with some random used dryer from a stranger. Spent a whole Saturday taking the thing apart and found a worn out drum roller, swapped it in and it worked fine. But now I'm paranoid every time it runs and I keep waiting for something else to break. Anyone else take the fix route and regret not just buying new? How long did your repair actually last?

Fixed my fridge compressor last year. Still running but I hold my breath every time it kicks on.

I mean, "hold my breath" is a good way to put it. That's pretty much my whole relationship with my fridge at this point. Every time it clicks on I just stand there waiting for it to either hum to life or let out that death rattle. Idk, maybe it's just me but I swear the older it gets the louder and more dramatic it sounds. It's like it's auditioning for a horror movie every time it kicks on. I'm half expecting it to just sigh and give up when I'm not looking.

Wait, your fridge is actually auditioning for a horror movie? That's wild. I'd probably be sleeping with one eye open if mine started that.
