Compared my mom's 1987 recipe card to my app version, old school won by a mile
I tried remaking her chicken casserole last Thursday using a meal app that calculates everything down to the gram, but it came out bland and dry. Then I dug out the faded card with just 'some cream of mushroom, a pinch of this, a handful of that' and it tasted exactly like childhood. Is the precision of my generation actually killing the soul of cooking, or do I just need better app settings?
My grandma never wrote anything down and just eyeballed everything, and her dumplings still beat any recipe I've pulled off a screen. Some things just live in your hands, not in a measuring cup.
