My smart thermostat saved me $40 then locked me out for a day
The ecobee cranked the AC all Tuesday while I was at work in Fresno, so I hit the app to shut it off and the thing just spun. I had to call support and read them a 6 digit code off the back plate, so who is really at fault here, the app or me for never setting up the web login?

My buddy in Clovis had the exact same thing happen with his ecobee, app spun forever while his house cooked all day. Support told him the app login and the thermostat code are two different things, so yeah the setup bit you more than the app did.
