My GPS sent me into a lake outside Tulsa and I'm done trusting it
Last Saturday I was driving to a wedding near Tulsa and my phone told me to turn right onto a road that ended in water. It said "arrive in 200 feet" while I stared at a boat ramp. I had to back out while three guys in a pickup watched and laughed, and I was 40 minutes late. Now I print directions before I go anywhere, but is that me being stubborn or is the app actually getting worse?
Ugh, I had that same thing happen to me near a boat launch in Michigan two summers ago. What saved me was switching to offline maps and actually reading the road names before I leave, because the app loves to send you to the "closest point" even if it's across water. Also if you drag the route to set a stop on the main road first, it stops trying to be clever. Printing is fine but Google lets you download the map area ahead of time, so you still get turn by turn with no signal.
