Wasted $120 on that premium clipper oil everyone raves about
Just made my blades gummy and sticky after three uses, has anyone else had this problem with the fancy stuff or did I just get a bad batch?

I've been using that same premium oil for about 6 months now and never had that problem once. You might be using way too much or not cleaning the blades well before applying it. The first time I tried a fancy oil I put on like 5 drops and it was a sticky mess, but then I read the instructions and learned to use just 1 drop and let it sit for 2 minutes before wiping off the excess. Another thing could be the temperature of your blades if you were trimming when they were still hot from previous use. I'd recommend stripping down the clipper, cleaning everything with a brush and alcohol first, then trying just one drop.

I don't know, all this talk about stripping down clippers and letting oil sit for exactly two minutes feels a little dramatic. It's just hair oil, not like we're servicing a car engine or something. I've been using random cheap oil from the drugstore for like three years and never had any problems with sticky blades or overheating. Maybe I'm lucky or maybe people just overthink this stuff. What's the worst that could happen if you don't follow the directions to the letter?
