Tried fading with clipper-over-comb for the first time and it worked better than expected

I had a client come in last Tuesday wanting a low fade but his hair was too thin for my usual guards. So I tried clipper-over-comb on the blend line at St. Louis Barbershop. The result was so smooth I used it on two more cuts that week. Has anyone else found this technique helps with older guys who have thinning hair?

Huh, that's actually a pretty clever trick. Did you find it was harder to keep the pressure consistent with the comb compared to just using a guard? I've always struggled with that part when I've tried it, especially around the crown.

Pressure with the comb is just practice, it clicks eventually.

Last Tuesday I had a guy with the same issue, comb slipped halfway through and I almost buzzed a bald spot into his crown lol. But yeah @holly_sanchez75 once you get the comb angle right it blends way better than guards on thin spots. I actually screwed up the first time and had to fix it with a 1 guard anyway.
