Serious question, is a $600 clipper worth it or just hype?
I dropped $600 on a set of premium cordless clippers last month, and they cut smooth as butter but my old $80 Wahl still gets the job done. Some guys swear by the pricier stuff for speed, others say it's just marketing. What's your take on spending big on clippers vs sticking with budget ones?

Are you kidding me, I just dropped $600 on clippers and now I'm half tempted to shave my head bald just to justify the expense? In my experience, the jump from budget to premium is real but only if you're doing it every single day like a barber. My $80 Wahl lasted years without a hitch, but this new set is dead quiet and doesn't pull at all, which matters when you're clumsy like me and nicking your ear is a weekly thing. Your mileage may vary though because half of it is just the placebo effect of spending money. If you're just buzzing your own head every few weeks, save your cash and grab a decent mid-range pair.

I mean, I see where you're coming from with the "placebo effect" thing, but I kinda disagree about the mid-range being enough for everyone. @miles_sanchez I gotta say, once you go really quiet and smooth like you mentioned, it's hard to go back. Maybe it's just me, but I've had mid-range clippers that pulled on my thick hair and made me dread cutting it. I think for some people, dropping that kind of cash isn't just about bragging rights, it's about making the chore less annoying if you're clumsy or have sensitive skin. But yeah, you're totally right that if you're just doing a quick buzz once a month, an $80 pair is probably all anyone needs.
