Saw a stat about barber school enrollment that made me look twice

I was reading an article from the Barber License website the other day, and it said that in my state, barber school enrollment went up by almost 40% in the last three years. That's a huge jump. It got me thinking about the shop I work at in Tacoma. We've had three new guys start in the past year, all fresh out of school, and the energy is totally different. They're bringing in new styles and really pushing for more skin fades and detailed beard work. It's cool to see, but it also makes me wonder if the market is getting too full, you know? Has anyone else felt this shift with more new barbers coming into their area shops?

Specializing in one thing really saved my spot.

Honestly I wonder if some of it is guys who lost office jobs during covid looking for a more hands-on trade. Could be a total career change wave hitting barbering.

Yeah, saw a lot of that in my line of work too.
