Saw a barbershop in Portland do something smart with walk-ins

Stopped by a shop in Portland Saturday and they had a clipboard system with color coded rows for walk-ins vs appointments. No shouting, no crowded front desk, just a simple list. I asked the owner about it and he said they cut down missed cuts by half after 2 months. Thinking about stealing that idea for my own shop, has anyone else tried a similar system? Do clients actually respect it?
