Saw a barber in Austin use a different kind of neck duster
I was getting a cut at this place on South Congress last week, and the barber finished up with this flat, wide brush instead of a normal round duster. He said he switched about six months ago because it catches more loose hair in one swipe and doesn't just push it around. It looked like it worked really well, and I'm thinking of grabbing one for my own kit. Has anyone else tried a brush like that, or do you stick with the classic ones?

Yeah I switched to a flat brush like that last year and it's a total game changer. The round ones just kind of flick hair off your neck, but the flat one actually grabs it all in one pass. I got a cheap one online and it saves so much time on clean up, especially with those really fine clippings that stick to the skin. My clients notice the difference too, they're not walking out with an itchy neck lol.

Agreed! Flat brushes grab way more dust off the cape too.

My old barber shop in Dallas switched to those flat brushes about two years ago. The main thing I noticed is they don't just scatter the tiny, almost invisible hairs that stick to sweat. You get one clean sweep down the back of the neck and it's actually gone. I still keep a round one for quick dusting off the cape, but the flat brush is the only thing that really clears the neckline properly.
