Pro tip: I saw a barber in Austin using a different kind of neck duster

I was at a shop called High & Tight last weekend and noticed the barber used a soft, wide makeup brush instead of a standard nylon duster. He said it catches more loose hair and doesn't flick it around. Has anyone else tried switching to a brush like that?

Switched to a big, soft kabuki brush years ago and never looked back. The nylon dusters just push the hair around your neck and onto your shirt. The dense bristles on a makeup brush trap the clippings instead. Just tap it against your leg over a trash can between clients, it all falls right out.

That makeup brush trick is smart. My barber switched to one of those fluffy powder brushes last year and it's way better. The old nylon dusters just spread hair everywhere, but the big soft brush actually holds onto it. I've seen him clean it with a comb between clients and it pulls out a surprising amount of hair. Makes a lot of sense.
