I was wrong about dry shaving. Pre-shave oil gets my razor work smoother. Any other must-do preps?

Seriously, the hot towel thing actually works! I used to roll my eyes at it, but now I drape a steamy washcloth over my face while I brush my teeth. That plus a few drops of almond oil makes my cheap razor feel way smoother. My dumb trick is using a tiny bit of plain lotion if my skin feels tight after the oil. It stops that scratchy feeling, especially on my chin. Don't overdo it though, or your razor gets gunky fast.

That hot towel trick is even better if you run it under hot water again halfway through your shave for a second pass.

Hot towel ESSENTIAL. My routine uses a hot towel for a solid minute. It really preps your skin like nothing else. After oil, I put on a bit of plain glycerin soap. That combo gives me the closest shave without any irritation.
