I remember when clipper blades used to last forever lol

Back when I started cutting in 2008, I had a pair of Oster 76s that I swear never needed a new blade for like 3 years straight. I just oiled them, brushed them out, and they kept going. Now with these newer cordless clippers, I'm swapping blades every 4 or 5 months and they cost like $40 a pop. I think it's because everything is made lighter now with plastic housings and the blades are thinner. I switched over to the Wahl Seniors about two years ago and the blade life is a little better but still not what it used to be. Has anyone else noticed the same thing with their clipper blades wearing out faster these days?

Ain't it more about how often you're using them than the build quality?

You ever seen a buddy's cheap drill burn out after two decks while his expensive one's still running years later? That's what happened to my friend @pat_schmidt60 - his weekend warrior stuff barely gets touched and it's fine, but the daily driver tools just can't hold up to the abuse.
