Had to pick between a $200 clipper and a $40 one last month - here's what happened

I was stuck between a Wahl Senior and a cheap Amazon special for my first month in business, and I went with the cheap one to save money. Three weeks later the motor started dragging and I had to buy the Wahl anyway, so now I'm out $240 total. Any other new barbers made the same mistake with budget clippers?

Bought a knockoff Andis for $35 my first week and the blade alignment was off right out of the box. Took it apart three times trying to fix it before I gave up and grabbed a used Oster 76 off a retiring barber for $80. That thing still runs perfect almost four years later. Sometimes paying less just costs you more time and frustration in the long run.

Same goes for cheap tools in general, they always break when you need them most.
