Bought a $200 Japanese steel razor for detail work and it's a game changer

The edge holds up for weeks, making those crisp necklines and beard trims way faster. Anyone have a good stone recommendation for keeping it sharp?

Heard that about Japanese steel. A lot of guys on the sharpening sub swear by Shapton ceramic stones.

Oh for sure, Shaptons are everywhere now. But I gotta ask, what's the actual deal with ceramic versus a good old water stone? Like, is it just about the convenience of no soaking, or does it really cut differently on those super hard Japanese steels? I see people going nuts for the 1K and 5K glass stones, but I wonder if it's just hype.
