Unpopular opinion: I chose a gas stove over induction and it nearly burned my house down

Last month I went with a gas range instead of induction because I thought it would be better for wok cooking. The flame caught a dish towel on fire within 3 days and now I'm stuck with this thing. Has anyone else regretted picking gas over something safer?

Totally feel you on this. Had a gas stove for about a month last year and it was a nightmare. Left a wooden spoon too close to the burner and it caught fire while I was grabbing something from the fridge. Wife came running in screaming and we had to throw a pot lid on it to put it out. After that I switched back to induction and honestly I sleep way better knowing there's no open flame just sitting there. The wok thing is overrated anyway, I just use a flat bottom wok on induction and it works fine if you let it preheat enough.

Ngl I used to be one of those gas or nothing people but honestly @king.derek you make a really good point. Never thought about the fire risk that way but yeah a wooden spoon catching fire sounds terrifying. Might have to give induction another look.
