Unpopular opinion: fast food drive-thrus should be slower on purpose

I heard this guy at a gas station in Tulsa say the whole point of drive-thrus is speed, but I think we got it backwards. Last Tuesday I waited 12 minutes at a Sonic and actually enjoyed having a few seconds to breathe before my next errand rush. Maybe if they made people wait a little, we'd all be less stressed and make fewer dumb driving mistakes. What would happen if Taco Bell tried a 5-minute minimum pause policy across all their stores?

Wait, you actually CHOSE to wait at Sonic? That 12 minutes just breathing, not getting your drink or food? I mean I get what you're saying about being less stressed, but I'd probably just start checking my phone and then pull forward into a parking spot without my order.

Tbh, do you think a forced pause would actually make people calmer, or just more annoyed at the system? A 5-minute minimum at Taco Bell feels like it'd just crowd the lot and make everyone angrier about waiting behind someone fumbling with their wallet. Would that extra time really change how people drive away or just push them to be more reckless trying to cut in line?
