I finally changed my mind about pineapple on pizza after talking to my buddy Dave
So I was at this pizza joint in Portland last Saturday, and my friend Dave ordered a Hawaiian pizza. I've spent like 10 years making fun of him for it, calling it a crime against food and all that. But he just looked at me and said, 'You hate it because you've only had it from cheap places with canned pineapple.' He dared me to try a slice from this place that used fresh grilled pineapple and prosciutto instead of ham. I took a bite and honestly, the sweet and salty thing actually worked way better than I expected. Now I'm sitting here wondering how many other foods I've written off based on bad versions of them. Has anyone else had a food opinion totally flipped by one good version?

Oh man, you just described exactly what happened to me with brussels sprouts. My mom boiled them to death when I was a kid and I swore them off for like 15 years. Then a friend roasted them with balsamic and bacon and I felt betrayed by my whole childhood. The trick is finding the right version, not giving up on the ingredient itself. Next time, try getting your pizza place to add some fresh basil on top of that Hawaiian, it takes it to another level entirely.

Oh, hold on. Basil on a Hawaiian pizza is a step too far. Pineapple and basil don't mix well at all.
