Appreciation post: The taco truck guy in Denver who pushed me to try lengua

I was at a taco truck near downtown Denver last Tuesday, stuck in my usual order of carne asada, when the owner just handed me a lengua taco and said "try it or you're missing out." I took a bite and suddenly realized I had been ignoring a whole world of textures and flavors just because I was scared of the name. Has anyone else had a street vendor completely change their eating habits with a free sample?

That "try it or you're missing out" line hits hard because it's so true. I had a similar moment with a taco vendor in Austin who pushed me toward tripe and I never looked back. It's wild how a total stranger can open up your taste buds better than any fancy restaurant could. Good for you for going for it, lengua is seriously underrated and that guy sounds like a real one.

Agree with Claire on this. @nora_dixon it really is a whole thing though, not just about the taco itself. It's about trusting a stranger who clearly loves what they do and letting go of your own limits. That pushy attitude comes from a place of wanting to share something good, not just being annoying. I had a guy at a market in Chicago basically force me to try pork belly when I was dead set on chicken and it changed how I look at menus forever. Sometimes you need someone who isn't you to kick down that mental wall you built.

Claire_walker you're making this sound like a whole life-changing experience lol. It's just a taco. I get it, it's good, but let's not act like a stranger with a pushy attitude is a culinary wakeup call or something.
