Went to the theater last weekend and dropped $50 on the new 'Point Break' remake tickets. What a waste.

Remaking Point Break was a terrible idea from the start. The original works because of its time and the actors in it. You can't just swap in new people and expect the same magic. Studios keep doing this because they're scared to try new stories. It just makes everything feel boring and the same. Save your money and watch the real one at home.

Ugh, totally agree with @phoenix198. I read an interview where even the director said they weren't trying to copy the original, but then why use the name? It just feels lazy. Like the new one tried to be more extreme sports but lost all the cool buddy-cop vibe. Keanu and Swayze had this weird tension that made it fun. The remake just felt like a generic action clip show.

Remember when my buddy Dave tried to get his kid into the original by watching both back to back? The kid fell asleep during the remake and then woke up for the Swayze skydiving scene, said it just looked cooler and more real. Kinda says it all.
