Went to see the Point Break remake with my brother in Tucson and we walked out after 40 minutes
Last month my brother was visiting me in Tucson and we decided to catch a late show of the Point Break remake at the theater on Grant Road. We both grew up on the original, so we figured even a bad version would be fun to make jokes about. About 40 minutes in, during the second extreme sports montage, this guy two rows behind us just says out loud, "This is a Mountain Dew commercial with extra steps," and honestly he was right. The whole thing felt like they took the bones of the original and swapped out the actual soul for snowboarding shots and bro talk. My brother leaned over and asked if I wanted to bail, and I said yes before he even finished the sentence. We ended up at a diner talking about the 1991 version for two hours instead. So my question for you all, what remake made you actually walk out of the theater, and did you feel guilty about the ticket money after?
Loved the remake's skydiving scene way more than anything in the 1991 version, and paying for a ticket supports the crew who worked on it. Walking out early just means you wasted money twice, once on the ticket and once on the diner coffee.
