Watched the Total Recall remake last night and it clicked why the original worked

I finally realized the original Total Recall succeeds because it's cheesy and weird on purpose like that goofy three-breasted woman scene. The 2012 version tried to be all serious and polished and it just made the whole thing boring. Did anyone else feel like the remake missed that sense of fun?

The three-breasted woman bit is exactly what made the original fun. The remake took itself way too seriously and lost all the weird charm.

You said "the remake took itself way too seriously" and I get that, but the 2012 movie actually had a few funny moments. The original was definitely looser and weirder though, almost like it knew it was ridiculous and leaned into it. That three-breasted woman scene in the remake felt more like a quick nod instead of the weird highlight it was in the original.
