Watched the 2018 Robocop remake expecting trash and it was worse than I imagined

The original had this gritty Detroit feel and the remake polished everything until it lost its soul. Has anyone else noticed the originals just had way more character because they had smaller budgets?

You are totally right about that polished feeling. The original had this grimy, lived-in world where you could practically smell the rust and rain, while the remake felt like a shiny commercial for itself. Smaller budgets forced them to get creative with the story and the atmosphere, and that made everything feel way more authentic. It's a bummer when a bigger budget just strips away all the character like that.

Totally get that. When I played through a similar budget indie title, the clunky graphics and weird voice acting actually made the story hit harder because you could tell they poured everything into the writing and mood. It's wild how limitations can force you to focus on what actually matters.
