Vent: I used to defend the 2014 RoboCop remake until I watched the original again

I spent 3 hours rewatching the 1987 version and realized the new one stripped out all the dark humor and social commentary for generic action scenes. Now I can't believe I ever argued it was "just as good" - anyone else have a remake they defended until they went back to the source material?

Wait, is that the one where the robot suits up and it's all serious? I mean, I kinda stuck up for that Total Recall remake until I saw the original again and realized the cheese factor is half the fun.
