Used to defend remakes at family dinner in Tampa, now I just pass the potatoes
Back in 2016 I would actually argue with my brother in law about remakes at every holiday dinner in Tampa, and I had a whole speech ready about how the 1982 The Thing was itself a remake so everyone should calm down. Then the 2019 Child's Play remake happened and I sat through the whole thing at a matinee for $7.50 and felt nothing. That was it for me. Now when my brother in law brings up the new Total Recall or the Point Break one with the surf bros, I just pass the potatoes and nod. I still think some remakes are fine, but most of them just take a movie I already own on DVD and make it longer and worse. Anybody got a remake they will actually go to bat for, or are we all just tired?
