Tried watching the 2010 Nightmare on Elm Street remake and it truly broke my brain
I sat through the whole thing last weekend with a buddy who swore it was 'underrated.' After about 20 minutes I realized Freddy Krueger is just a normal guy with burns who talks like a boring accountant. The original had creepy humor and timing, this one just has jump scares and loud noises. By the end we counted 5 moments that were literally copies from the 1984 version but done worse. I learned that some movies dont need a remake when the original already nailed the vibe. Has anyone else noticed how bad the casting was in that movie?

the part about "a guy who got denied a business loan" is actually hilarious and now I can't unsee it. I used to think the remake was just bad for no reason, but honestly you kind of changed my mind. Maybe I was overthinking it and should just let it be a dumb 2010 slasher.

Start with wondering why people get so worked up about a remake nobody forced them to watch. It's a slasher movie from 2010, not a documentary about healthcare. The casting was fine for what it was - Jackie Earle Haley did his best with a script that treated Freddy like a guy who got denied a business loan. Honestly, if you're counting jump scares and comparing shots side by side, maybe the real horror is how much time you spent analyzing a Michael Bay produced reboot.
