Total waste of time: that 'RoboCop' remake from 2014

I sat through the whole thing in a theater in Portland and walked out feeling ripped off. The original had that gritty satire about corporations running everything, but this one was just another generic action movie with shiny effects. They spent $100 million on it and forgot to include any of the dark humor or tension that made the first one work. Has anyone else tried rewatching the original after a bad remake and just gotten more angry about what they changed?

Oh man, don't even get me started on that 2014 reboot. I tried watching it on a plane once and ended up staring out the window instead. The original's scene with the ED-209 malfunctioning at the board meeting was more satire in five minutes than that whole remake had in two hours. You're right, they dropped the whole point about corporate greed and just made a flashy robot punch things for 90 minutes. Revisiting the 1987 version after that turd just makes it worse because you realize how much they missed the mark. Guess $100 million can't buy you a sense of humor or a soul.

Ugh seriously that reboot was such a waste. I remember leaving the theater and just feeling confused like did they even watch the original? The ED-209 scene was pure gold and they couldn't even be bothered to include anything that clever. Corporate satire turned into a generic action flick with zero personality. Total cash grab.
